Too Good to Be True?

Join us for the Easter Message at SAF.

Luke 24:1-12 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came to the tomb, bringing the spices they had prepared. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb. 3 They went in but did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were perplexed about this, suddenly two men stood by them in dazzling clothes. 5 So the women were terrified and bowed down to the ground. “Why are you looking for the living among the dead?” asked the men. 6 “He is not here, but he has risen! Remember how he spoke to you when he was still in Galilee, 7 saying, ‘It is necessary that the Son of Man be betrayed into the hands of sinful men, be crucified, and rise on the third day’?” 8 And they remembered his words. 9 Returning from the tomb, they reported all these things to the Eleven and to all the rest. 10 Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them were telling the apostles these things. 11 But these words seemed like nonsense to them, and they did not believe the women. 12 Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. When he stooped to look in, he saw only the linen cloths. So he went away, amazed at what had happened.

Luke 24:11 “These words seemed like nonsense to them...”

The women didn’t come to the tomb that morning looking for a __________, they came looking for ___________.

John 20:4-5 The two were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and got to the tomb first. Stooping down, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in.

4 Things That Make the Resurrection Seem Too Good to be

1. If it’s true... Jesus has ___________ us from our sins.

2. If it’s true...The power for __________ _________ is here.

Romans 6:3–4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death, that just like Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also can walk in newness of life.

3. If it’s true... One day, every sad thing will come _________.

Isaiah 11:6-9 The wolf will live with the lamb... the calf and the lion together; and a little child will lead them. 7 The cow will feed with the bear, 8 The infant will play near the cobra’s den, 9 They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain.

Isaiah 49:22 (NLT) This is what the Sovereign Lord says: “See, I will give a signal to the godless nations. They will carry your little sons back to you in their arms; they will bring your daughters on their shoulders.

Isaiah 60:5 Then your heart will tremble and rejoice, because the abundance of the sea will become yours, and the wealth of the nations will come to you.

4. If it’s true... Those who wait upon God will not be ______________.

Lamentations 3:25 The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.
